1) A prototype of a new metro trains, more environmentally friendly will be commissioned in Warsaw (Poland) in 2012. The system called "Inspiro" has new cars recyclable eco compatible to 97.5%, a roomier interior and facilitating the movement of passenger flows and big screens showing the layout of the network.

Symbol of ecology, trains are equipped with soft lighting and the holding structure of standing passengers is shaped tree branches.
Finally, an aluminum chassis has been privileged with the aim to reduce car weight and thus reduce consumption energy.

2) The provision of folding bikes for commuters is currently under review by the SNCB (Belgian Railways). This study, whose findings will be presented in the course of the first quarter was led by the Belgian company C-Tec and addresses the technical feasibility of such a project. The objective is to allow the commuter to make a door-to-door rather than station to station.

3) Transcontainer, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD), specializing in container freight transport, and China Railway International Multimodal Transport (CRIMT) signed a cooperation agreement for the creation of a joint venture. The new joint venture cargo Competency in freight transportation by the Trans-Siberian, particularly between China and Russia and between China and Europe. The capital of the joint venture will be $ 400 000. Over the next 5 years, the partners plan to invest $ 2 million in the project.

4) SNCF has presented a project on the development of an eco-calculator, which will allow each person making a move automatically measure your CO2 emissions on a given route, regardless of mode of transport.
The application installed on a "smartphone" new generation will automatically detect the mode of transportation: train, tram, bus, car, walking ... and calculate CO2 emissions, depending on the distance traveled and any changes in fashion.
It project is in partnership with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) who develops a geolocation solution combined with an algorithm that allows the system to automatically identify the mode of transport in which the traveler is. Then calculations are performed using data from official average CO2 emissions by type of transport.
SNCF plans to offer this application "CO2GO" late 2011 to its customers, combined with additional features: proposed routes and transport modes associated alternative cleaner, practical information about businesses, utilities, parking, tourism ...

5) As part of the "Connected Urban Development" ( http://www.connectedurbandevelopment.org/ ), Cisco, American company, plans to install telecentres around cities, but also in the stations because of their strategic location in the heart of intermodality.
These TV's centers will serve to share workspaces, meeting rooms but also to organize teleconferences.
